'Meet and greet’ of artists planned for Sept. 7 in Imlay CityIMLAY CITY — Residents of Imlay City and beyond will receive a sneak peek next Thursday at several pieces of new public art that will soon adorn exteriors throughout the downtown area.
The community is invited to the Downtown Art in Action Artist Meet and Greet on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. at 150 Bancroft St. hosted by the Imlay City Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
The Meet and Greet will act as the ‘grand finale’ for the second annual Art in Action initiative. Community members will have the opportunity to talk with the six artists that created more than 20 pieces of artwork during the month of August. Light snacks and beverages will be served and the artists’ works will be on display.
This year’s creations will be hung throughout downtown and join the 14 pieces of artwork created last year by artists Randy Hughes and Hunter Pope.
At the conclusion of this year’s Downtown Art in Action, the DDA plans to create an incubator at 150 Bancroft Street by offering entrepreneurs, artists or event organizers use of the space for limited time period — up to six months —without rent. Applications for ‘@ 150 Pop’ are now available online at www.icdda.com.
For more information regarding Downtown Art in Action and the Meet and Greet, contact Dana Walker at the Imlay City DDA at 810-724-2135 or visit www.icdda.com.
