Become a Member of LAA

Joining the LAA allows networking with other artists, education and growth as an artist. You will hear about opportunities to show and sell your work. Working as a community of artists there is a greater opportunity to reach a wider audience for your artwork and talents. You will help advance participation and appreciation of the arts and culture for your community. Gallery 194 is where your artwork will be exhibited and sold in several separate and distinct shows each year. Two exhibits take up the whole gallery where there are special receptions held for you to showcase your talents and mix with your audience!
Other exhibitions are located in the upper half of the gallery while other independent shows are held in the lower half. This sharing of resources under the governance of the gallery's director allows networking with other artists and artist groups. The lower gallery is also used to showcase art by the local elementary and high school children in annual shows that enable students to win scholarships for furthering their education in the arts. As an Artist you will also have the opportunity to sell smaller works in the gallery gift shop. |
Membership Opportunities and Benefits
There are three adult membership levels: Active Artists who exhibit their work; Fellows who choose not to exhibit but have the opportunity to vote in LAA business; Patrons of the arts who wish to support the arts in their local community. One can also support the arts in Lapeer by choosing to donate.
We offer a Junior Membership level for those 14-17 years old. Please contact LAA for details.
Please note: To become an active member, your work must also be reviewed by a Board Member(s) prior to joining. Please make arrangements to submit your application and work for review by clicking here to schedule either an in-person meeting or arrangements to submit work via JPEG document. For Fellowship or Arts Patron memberships, no prior authorization is required.
The membership year is January 1 to December 31 with all renewals due by January 1. For details on membership categories, please see below.
GUEST ARTISTS: For the Spring and Holiday shows, we welcome guest artists to participate. Guest artists are asked to fill out a Guest Artist Application and make arrangements to show samples of their work to a board member before they enter. There is a fee of $35 to enter either the Spring show or Holiday show as a guest member, payable at the time of entry.

Active Member
An active member is expected to:
- show their artwork in gallery shows and/or the gift shop - attend member Meet-Ups and receptions - join committees An active member will: - pay yearly dues of $35 - pay 20% commission on gallery sales - pay 30% commission on gift shop sales - receive a monthly newsletter - be a voting member - be able to run for the board after 6 months as a member in good standing |
Fellowship
A fellowship member is encouraged to:
- attend Meet-Ups and receptions - join committees A fellowship member will: - pay yearly dues of $35 - not show artwork - receive a monthly newsletter - be a voting member |
Arts Patron
An arts patron is welcome to:
